DGA Awards 2019

Continua l’infatuazione di Hollywood per i registi messicani e per Alfonso Cuaron in particolare, che ha conquistato i DGA Awards 2019 per Roma, il premio che il sindacato dei registi assegna ai suoi pari e che, in genere, diventa una buona previsione per quello che accadrà agli Oscar.

Il regista di Roma ha battuto Bradley Cooper, Spike Lee, Adam McKay e Peter Farrelly nella categoria cinema, mentre il regista del delizioso Eighth Grade, Bo Burnham, è stato premiato come migliore esordiente. Adam McKay, pur avendo perso il premio per Vice nella categoria principale, ha invece vinto il premio per Sharp Object.

Cuaron è il secondo regista a vincere un DGA Award per un film non in lingua inglese, il primo fu Ang Lee con La Tigre e il Dragone. Se dovesse essere premiato anche con il premio Oscar, sarebbe il primo regista in assoluto, nella storia del premio, a vincere la migliore regia con un film non in lingua inglese.
