Peacemaker è l’annunciata serie tv creata da James Gunn per il servizio di streaming HBO Max e si basa sull’omonimo personaggio della DC Comics. Lo show è la primaserie televisiva del DC Extended Universe (DCEU) e spin-off del film del 2021 The Suicide Squad.

La serie tv è ambientata dopo gli eventi di The Suicide Squad (2021), ed esplora le origini di Peacemaker e le sue successive missioni.
In Peacemaker protagonisti sono John Cena come Christopher Smith / Peacemaker: un killer spietato che crede nel raggiungimento della pace ad ogni costo. Lo showrunner James Gunn ha descritto il personaggio come un “supereroe/supercattivo/[il] più grande coglione del mondo”. Steve Agee come John Economos: il direttore del penitenziario di Belle Reve e un aiutante di Amanda Waller. Danielle Brooks è Leota Adebayo. Gunn l’ha descritta come una co-protagonista della serie con una visione politica diversa da quella di Peacemaker. Robert Patrick come Auggie Smith: il padre di Peacemaker. Jennifer Holland come Emilia Harcourt: un agente della NSA che è un aiutante di Amanda Waller. Freddie Stroma come Adrian Chase/Vigilante : un procuratore distrettuale e combattente del crimine che può guarire rapidamente dalle ferite. Chukwudi Iwuji come Clemson Murn.
Nei ruoli ricorrenti invece troviamo Lochlyn Munro come Larry Fitzgibbon, Annie Chang come detective Sophie Song, Christopher Heyerdahl come Capitano Locke, Elizabeth Ludlow come Keeya, Rizwan Manji come Jamil, Nhut Le come maestro di judo, Alison Araya come Amber: la moglie di Evan e Lenny Jacobson come Evan: il marito di Amber. James Gunn ha scritto tutti gli otto episodi della serie mentre completava il lavoro su The Suicide Squad durante la pandemia di COVID-19, prima che HBO Max ordinasse ufficialmente Peacemaker straight-to-series nel settembre 2020. Le riprese si sono svolte a Vancouver, in Canada , da gennaio a luglio 2021 con Gunn alla regia di cinque episodi.
