Everything Everywhere All at Once trionfa agli Independent Spirit Awards 2023, in attesa di replicare il successo anche agli Oscar 2023. Le categorie attoriali, che per gli Independent sono gender neutre, sono state vinte tutte da donne, mentre Aftersun porta a casa il premio come miglior film d’esordio. Si conferma dunque la compenetrazione, che da diversi anni a questa parte si protrae, tra cinema indipendente e cinema delle industry con il secondo che arriva lì dove sembrava che i posti fossero riservati ai progetti con fondi provenienti dalle majors.
