Brendan Fraser, Bob Odenkirk, Amanda Seyfried sono solo alcuni dei nomi protagonisti della serata dei Critics‘ Choice Awards 2023, che ha visto trionfare Everything Everywhere All at Once con ben cinque riconoscimenti, trai quali miglior film e miglior regia. Come ai Golden Globes, invece Elementary Abbott replica il successo per la categoria serie comedy, mentre Better Call Saul ha la sua rivincita portando a casa il premio per la migliore serie e per il migliore attore protagonista, Odenkirk appunto.
E mentre Angela Bassett porta alto il nome dei Marvel Studios che, grazie a lei, hanno vinto anche un Critics Choice per la recitazione, trai premiati per i film tv spicca il nome di Daniel Radcliffe, ex Harry Potter, che con questo riconoscimento per il suo lavoro in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (che ha vinto anche Miglior film per la tv) sembra dare un nuovo volto alla sua carriera, da sempre molto sfaccettata e ricca.
Cate Blanchett batte la diretta concorrente Michelle Yeoh, mentre il loro duello sembra l’aspetto più divertente di una stagione dei premi appena cominciata che ci accompagnerà, per certo, fino alla Notte degli Oscar. Grande sorpresa nella categoria miglior film comedy: il premio è andato a Glass Onion, che ha sconfitto una signora concorrenza e mentre ci spieghiamo senza troppi misteri il premio al miglior ensemble del film, è molto più inatteso un riconoscimento al film stesso.
